Fitness for the Water Lifestyle

Kayak

Join us for our fun salt marsh kayak tours to Tybee Island and Little Tybee Island offered daily year round.  Book morning and afternoon in the summer, mid day in fall and winter. Don’t want to come inside?  Book a full day tour instead. Experience is unnecessary, only the desire to paddle. Enjoy the outdoors, get a bit of exercise and learn about coastal Georgia.

Our guided kayak tours are the perfect way to get through the elements that make up the coastal barrier island system.  The experience of kayaking is an exhilarating  hands on outdoor activity for fun and environmental education.  We can accommodate all levels of paddlers from beginning up through some exciting challenges for the seasoned paddler.

Our half day tour is designed to be an introduction to the sport, paddling through the protected estuary and beach combing on Little Tybee nothing could be more serene and refreshing.  Our tidal ranges is between 6 and 9 feet so every time we go out things are a bit different, this allows dynamic opportunities for our guides to offer the most spontaneous experiences for your ecology program.  Chances for viewing shorebirds and marsh birds, bird of prey, dolphin, crabs abound.

The full day tour for beginners in still in protected waters but allows us to paddle further, look for more treasures on the beaches and also the delightful chance to picnic on a deserted barrier island of the tides choosing.

Full day programs for intermediate and advanced paddlers can take us in conditions beyond the flat calm of the estuary and give us even more places to explore, with of course, plenty of choices for the beach style picnic for lunch.

The guided tour can get you acquainted with the local paddling area if you’ve just moved here. Guide service for part of your visit is an excellent introduction for experienced paddlers planning on spending a few days exploring the islands on their own.

We also offer group programs for Girl and Boy Scout, School, Corporate, Family and Friend tours, instruction, and camping.

Jacks Cut, Tybee Slough, Myrtle
Lazaretto to Tybee Creek, stopping at Long Island
Jacks Cut, Tybee Slough, Beach Hammock
Little Tybee Island is a chain of inland hammocks and small barrier islands connected by a maze of tidal creeks. Largely deserted even in summer months, the area is accessible only by boat. A graphic example of dune formation and maritime forest evolution, Little Tybee has a progression of palm, juniper, bay, pine and live oak trees. It is inhabited by dolphin, raccoon, gray fox, mink, feral pig, deer and alligator. There are no permanent human dwellings. The island has several miles of beachfront, accessible from inland rivers flowing to the sea.  Protected waterway paddling with birding, beach walking and wonderful lunch spots lend themselves to an unforgettable full day tour with Sea Kayak Georgia.
5 Hours $75 per person

Little Tybee Island High Tide Paddle
Join us on the full and new moon tides for the spring tide highs. At high tide we won’t even have to stay in the channel we can paddle over the grass and take short cuts to go fast and far. This trip can take us to places we usually don’t get to go.  Hard to say exactly where, until we get there!  Join up if you like to chance what may happen. One of our favorite trips.
5 hours $75 per person

Little Tybee Island and Beyond:

Wassaw Island
Open  for the intermediate to advanced paddler
Wassaw is a national wildlife refuge open to the public during daylight hours. It has mature maritime forests and miles of deserted beach. The landscape is famous for the Bone Yard, a grove of live oaks taken by the sea, dead but still standing in the sand and exposed to the roots at low tide.  Leave from Tybee Island and create a  journey on the open sea. This adventure on the high sea takes in several prime surfing spots along the way.  The swell crossing Wassaw Sound can be spectacular. Get ready for a fun and fit full day tour SKG style.  Prerequisite: intermediate paddlers with a self rescue.
6 hours $95 per person

Ossabaw Island
Paddling to Ossabaw is a fitness paddle for the water lifestyle!  We will leave early and paddle hard to Ossabaw Island, landing on the front beach.  This special island has one of the most unique character of all the Georgia Isles with its long history, interesting wildlife and designation as Georgia’s first Heritage Preserve.  What a lovely example she has set.  Lots of history and nature combine for visual rewards.  Intermediate paddlers able to paddle close to 20 miles per day on this full day tour.
8 hours $125 per person, minimum 4 participants

Ebenezer Creek

A blackwater river that flows so slowly you could paddle it in either direction. The trip runs for seven miles through a cypress forest straight out of Tolkien’s Trilogy. Thousands of cypress knees reach up to meet the Spanish moss like stalactites and stalagmites in a watery cave. The single best word to describe this place? “Enchanting.”
