Guide Staff and Instructors
Sea Kayak Georgia is owned and operated by Tybee Island
residents Marsha Henson and Ronnie Kemp. We are both ACA and BCU certified
instructors in sea kayaking and canoeing. We welcome you to join us and our very knowledgeable staff in touring or training
in the beautiful pristine waterways around Tybee Island and on the many inland rivers of south Georgia.
Ronnie
Kemp
Ronnie is the founder of CanoeCanoe Outfitters and now co owner of Sea Kayak Georgia. Ronnie's first love is canoeing on the magical Ohoopee River. Ronnie has a great love of photography and many of the images on this website are through his eyes. Ronnie is a seasoned tour guide on the Coast of Georgia, inland rivers of south Georgia and a registered guide in the Okefenokee Swamp. He instructs and coaches ACA and BCU classes on every level with Sea Kayak Georgia. Whether you are in search of beginning instruction or want to hone your Sea Kayak Surfing skills, Ronnie has the skill and patien ce to assist you in obtaining a higher level and have lots of fun on the way.
Ronnie is an ACA Level 5 Coastal Kayak Instructor
Trainer and runs most of the ACA IDW and ICE programming at Sea Kayak Georgia. He is also a BCU Coach 3 Sea Kayak.
In the past, Ronnie's paddling and coaching has taken him to Wales, Spain, Baja, California, Florida, Michigan and North Carolina.
Marsha
Henson
Marsha is co owner of Sea Kayak Georgia, and is enjoying all aspects of running a paddlesport business on Tybee Island. Beginner, Intermediate, Intro to Sea Kayaking and Women's paddlesport development are all Marsha's favorite programs to offer.
Marsha is an ACA Level 4 Coastal Kayak Instructor and a BCU Coach
3 Sea Kayak Trainee, look for her on the water around Tybee leading day trips, student groups, and providing instruction. Marsha is also a registered Okefenokee guide and an ACA Canoe Instructor. Recent kayaking travels include Wales, California, Florida, Michigan, Mexico and North Carolina. The greatest paddling joy is found paddling in the home waters of Tybee Island the coast of Georgia. Join her for a great day experiencing the local waters.
Regan Campbell
Regan is a graduate of Georgia Southern's Outdoor Leadership Program. She brings her love of the outdoors and gear to the retail shop and out on the water as guide and instructor. Currently, she is an ACA Level 3 Coastal Kayak Instructor as well as a seasoned guide. Join Regan for a day of interpretation of natural and cultural history and instruction in kayaking and a good dose of fun. Regan's newest love is SUP, join her for the 2012 paddleboard program.
Michelle Kelly
Michelle is a trained scientist and amazing naturalist. She has been employed by nature centers, taught school, lived all over the country and brings an amazing amount of people skills to her job at SKG. As a guide she can open your eyes to the incredible beauty of coastal Georgia and teach you all about the ecosystem in a fun way. Look for Michelle on the water and in our shop. Michelle is an ACA Level 2 Coastal Kayak Instructor.
Dan Genrich
Dan is a gifted naturalist by trade, he has spent
many years as a school teacher and is currently on the staff of Oatland
Island Wildlife Center. Dan has been certified as an ACA Level 4 Coastal Kayak Instructor.
He spends his summers and weekends with our visitors kayaking the
esturaries and ocean water.
John Schleicher
John has travelled far and wide and brings loads
of people skills and stories of his adventurous life. John conducted a
great many tours for SKG in the last three years and has rapidly become one of our most popular
guides. He is excellent with groups and families. John is an ACA Level 2 Coastal Kayak Instructor and a BCU Level 1 Coach.
Courtland Eddings
Courtland hales from Texas and has come to us by way of being a student at Savannah College of Art and Design. When she is not visioning great architecture she is out on the water sharing her bubbly personality and fresh take on life as a guide for our tour program. She comes from a very strong equestrian background and has taken those terrestrial skills and applied them to world aquatic. Western style sea kayaking anyone?
Wesley Overvold
Wes began guiding with us some three years ago while still in high school. He is now a student at Appalachian State University. During summer breaks he assists us with our tour program and most excels within our overnight program. Wesley leads Kayak Kamp for Kids in addition to being a smiling face in the retail shop. Kayaking, photography and graphic arts are all areas of excellence for Wes.
Russ Goeken
Russ started leading kayak excursions for SKG while gaining a photography degree from Savannah College of Art and design. He left to live in Hawaii and South Korea, while intermittently travelling the globe and getting married. He and his lovely wife Anissa have returned to live in Savannah. Russ shares some of his time being an outstanding guide for us.
Dan Dittmar
Our newest SKG member, Dan got a Romany Surf the day we first met and since then he has been exploring coastal Georgia daily. Join him for one of his fun and laid back programs in the back waters of Tybee Island.
